German technical death metal band Obscura released their latest studio album “Omnivium” last March, and it received a unanimously positive response from fans and critics alike. They embarked on a North American tour as one of the support acts to Children Of Bodom in June, and exposed themselves to a huge new audience. Interview: PowerGlove’s Nick Avila Talks About Summer Slaughter Experience (Audio)

If you managed to keep in touch with metal tours this year, there is a good chance you’ve seen PowerGlove somewhere. The video game metal quartet from Boston, MA epitomize the touring life-style metal bands have to adapt in the current musical climate. Since their latest album “Saturday Morning Apocalypse” came out in 2010 on the E1 label, these guys have been on the road pretty much non-stop. This year they toured with Symphony X, then went on Summer Slaughter as the halftime act, and recently finished another North American tour, this time with Evergrey and Sabaton. Interview: The Absence’s Patrick Pintavalle Talks About Touring, Upcoming Covers EP (Audio)
