Interview: The Absence’s Patrick Pintavalle Talks About Touring, Upcoming Covers EP (Audio)

By Andrew Bansal

Florida-based extreme metal band The Absence released their latest full-length album “Enemy Unbound” on Metal Blade records in summer 2010, and recently did a North American tour with Sweden’s Evergrey, a band that has been an influence on their sound. On October 6th, this tour made a stop at the Key Club in Hollywood, and I had a chance to talk to guitarist Patrick Pintavalle. Interview: The Shrine Talk About New Demo, Opening For Kyuss Lives And Fu Manchu (Audio)

By Andrew Bansal

No amount of words can do justice to how amazing The Shrine really are, so I won’t make an attempt at any detailed descriptions here. All I would say is, the Los Angeles-based trio plays music that can be labeled as rock ‘n roll at its purest, in every sense of the term. Interview: Evergrey Talk About North American Tour, Gear (Audio)

By Andrew Bansal

Swedish prog-power outfit Evergrey have been around for more than 15 years, and through eight studio albums, they have successfully expressed themselves with music that’s melodic, heavy, dark and progressive. Interview: Diamond Plate Discuss Touring, Debut Album & Burgers (Audio)

By Andrew Bansal

Having released a hugely impressive debut full-length “Generation Why?” on Earache Records this year, Chicago thrashers Diamond Plate have been rather actively living life on the road, with extensive tours across North America. First, they completed a tour with Kittie and Dirge Within, and then jumped straight onto a tour with Warbringer, Lazarus A.D. and Landmine Marathon. Interview: Catching Up With Led Zeppelin 2 Singer Bruce Lamont (Audio)

By Andrew Bansal

If you haven’t guessed it already, Led Zeppelin 2 is a Zeppelin tribute band, and they based out of Chicago, Illinois. I was already familiar with singer Bruce Lamont because of his band Yakuza, and that made me even more curious to see them, as compared to checking out a “regular” Zeppelin tribute band. The first time I got to see them was last February at the Key Club. I really enjoyed how they mixed the rarities with the hits, and presented a good selection from the wonderful Zeppelin catalog, and for a band that does not do this full time, they did a great job at performing those tunes. Interview: Arsis’ Nick Cordle & Noah Martin Talk About Touring Without Jim Malone, Next Album (Audio)

By Andrew Bansal

Last October, on the “Frets Of Fury” tour in support of Firewind, Arsis did the unthinkable, and made it work. They toured without Jim Malone, and taking his place in that touring line-up were vocalist Mike Parks and guitarist Brandon Ellis. The last night of the tour was at the Whisky A-Go-Go in Hollywood on October 27th, and based on what I saw, I can say without a doubt that this line-up did complete justice to the songs they chose to play.
