Norwegian black metal band Kampfar have been around for more than 17 years, creating music that’s similar in style to a lot of fellow Norwegian bands, but a lot more artistic and meaningful, as it’s inspired by Norse mythology. Their latest album “Mare” came out last May on Napalm Records and has been successful in North America.
Recently, the band did their first ever North American tour, a co-headline run with Vreid. When the tour came to Hollywood’s Whisky A Go-Go, I had the chance to sit down with mainman Dolk to talk about this tour, the origins of black metal and corpse paint, Norway’s Inferno festival, and other things. Listen to the 13-minute conversation below, and check out the band’s facebook for more info.
