Between The Buried And Me is one of those bands that simply blow you away at first listen. This incredibly talented group of musicians from Raleigh, North Carolina have been masterfully creating music for the past 11 years, music that can only be described as an eclectic blend of various styles. Even though the musical components are hugely disparate, the end result has a compelling flow to it, which is perhaps their biggest strength, and that is what draws people towards them. Ever since the 2002 release of the self-titled debut album, their fanbase has been steadily on the increase with every subsequent album. The latest is a 30-minute, 3-song EP titled “The Parallax: The Hypersleep Dialogues”, a release that further enhances their reputation among fans and critics alike.
Almost as soon as that EP was released, the band did a North American tour with support from Job For A Cowboy, Cephalic Carnage and The Ocean last May and played the EP in its entirety along with older material, and now they are back on another headline run called the Saints And Sinners Tour, also featuring Animals As Leaders and Tesseract. This tour made a visit to the Los Angeles area last night on November 26th, at the House of Blues in Hollywood. Before the show, I had the pleasure of sitting down with guitarists Paul Waggoner and Dustie Waring to discuss this tour as well as their on-stage and studio setup in detail. Listen to the 15-minute conversation below, and check out the band’s official facebook for all up-to-date info.
