If you haven’t guessed it already, Led Zeppelin 2 is a Zeppelin tribute band, and they based out of Chicago, Illinois. I was already familiar with singer Bruce Lamont because of his band Yakuza, and that made me even more curious to see them, as compared to checking out a “regular” Zeppelin tribute band. The first time I got to see them was last February at the Key Club. I really enjoyed how they mixed the rarities with the hits, and presented a good selection from the wonderful Zeppelin catalog, and for a band that does not do this full time, they did a great job at performing those tunes. On November 5th, they were back at the Key Club as part of another US tour, and a couple of hours before they hit the stage, I got a chance to catch up with Bruce. We talked about what the group has been up to since that February tour, his take on playing Zeppelin albums in their entirety, the challenges that come with attempting to replicate the Zeppelin sound, his opinion on another great tribute band called Led Zepagain, and some other topics. Listen to the 12-minute conversation below, and check out the band’s official website for more.
