Interview: An In-Depth Conversation With Nekrogoblikon (Audio)

By Andrew Bansal

Their name is Nekrogoblikon, they are based in Los Angeles, and they play goblin metal. I saw them for the first time when they opened for Holy Grail at the Viper Room last April, and became a fan instantly. The next time I got a chance to see them was when they were one of the local openers for the Crush ‘Em All tour at the Key Club in Hollywood on October 16th. Even though it was rudely interrupted by the venue’s stage manager at one point, this interview discusses pretty much everything you would need to know about the band. Interview: Veil Of Maya’s Marc Okubo Talks About Next Album, Working With Misha Mansoor (Audio)

By Andrew Bansal

When they performed at the Summer Slaughter show at Hollywood’s House Of Blues in 2010, technical death metal band Veil Of Maya managed to capture my attention with their live musicianship. They did complete justice to all of their songs in the short but intense 30-minute set, specially the material from their highly impressive latest album “Id”. After that show, I was eager to get another taste of their live performance , and I got it at the Whisky A Go-Go in November of that year, as they opened up for Darkest Hour and played a longer set. After The Burial, the progressive metal quintet based out of Twin Cities, Minnesota, have been rapidly developing as musicians, outdoing themselves with every studio album. Their latest effort “In Dreams” was released in 2010. Their second release on Sumerian Records and third full-length album overall, this is solid proof that they are close to hitting their creative peak, which makes me even more excited for their next release. Interview: Threat Signal Vocalist Jon Howard Talks About New Album, Explains Reasons For Lack Of Touring (Audio)

By Andrew Bansal

Canadian heavy metal band Threat Signal recently put out their third full length-album, a self-titled release that reaches a new level of aggression, and proves to be the band’s heaviest record till date. Ever since the album came out on October 11th under the Nuclear Blast label, it has been getting a similar response from other members of the media. Almost everyone’s opinion is almost unanimous, and this really is the most crushing, intense set of songs we’ve ever heard from this band. Interview: Decrepit Birth’s Matt Sotelo Talks About Touring With Decapitated, Return Of Derek Boyer (Audio)

By Andrew Bansal

Death metal band Decrepit Birth’s latest album “Polarity”, which was released in 2010 under the Nuclear Blast label, was right up there with the best releases on the year, in my opinion. The band has been actively promoting the album on the road, on the Summer Slaughter tour in 2010, followed by tours with Suffocation and Kataklysm.
