Today, on May 25th 2012, they called a press conference at the same venue to answer questions put forth by representatives of various media outlets from around the country, including yours truly. All members of the band were present for the conference, but guitarist Mark Morton had to leave to set up his gear for tomorrow’s show. His guitar tech didn’t make it to India and Mark had to do the work himself, but the remaining four members more than made up for his absence, and answered questions on a wide variety of topics. Diamond Plate Guitarist Discusses Overkill Tour, Future Plans

By Aniruddh “Andrew” Bansal

Diamond Plate is a Chicago-based thrash band that started out in 2004, and through their “Mountains Of Madness” and “Relativity” EP releases in 2008 and 2009 respectively, as well as their ferocious live performances, they showed great promise. In the last couple of years, they have delivered on that promise, releasing their debut full-length album “Generation Why?” in 2011, and touring non-stop ever since. They capped off their touring cycle with Overkill’s “Electric Age” tour, impressing one and all as they opened up the shows every night. On May 15th 2012, just after the tour had ended, I spoke to guitarist Mario Cianci to discuss this Overkill tour, future plans, guitar lessons and other topics. Read the conversation below, and order the band’s debut full-length or check them out on facebook and twitter by using the links posted at the bottom. By Aniruddh “Andrew” Bansal

Delhi-based ambient metal outfit Skyharbor have progressed in leaps and bounds since guitarist Keshav Dhar started it as a studio project. Through the music, Skyharbor managed to get noticed not only among music enthusiasts, but also impressed musicians like Marty Friedman, Dan Tompkins and Vishal J. Singh, to the extent that they ended up featuring as guest musicians on the band’s debut album “Blinding White Noise: Illusion & Chaos”, which came out late April 2012 via Basick Records. Besides, they earned praise from Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler, who called Skyharbor one of his current favorite bands. It’s only befitting that Skyharbor has now been confirmed to open for Lamb of God at their upcoming Bangalore show on May 26th, at Clarks Exotica. I caught up with the man himself, Keshav Dhar, to discuss this show, the debut album and lots more. Read the conversation below, and buy tickets for the show or visit Skyharbor online using the links posted at the bottom.
