Necrodeity Talk About TrendSlaughter Fest, Debut Gig & Future Plans

After a successful debut gig last August, Kolkata-based old-school death metal band Necrodeity are preparing to decimate the audience at this year’s Trendslaughter Fest at the No Limits Pub in Bangalore on February 10th, alongside Singapore’s Blood Division and India’s own Dying Embrace, Shepherd, Witchgoat and Solar Deity. Having started out in early 2012, the band is still a very new and relatively unknown entity, but an exciting prospect nonetheless. Shepherd Discuss TrendSlaughter Fest, Lineup Change & More

Bangalore-based sludge metal quartet Shepherd caught my attention straightaway when I saw them open for Bevar Sea at the Mighty Riff gig early last year in Bangalore, and even though I haven’t been able to catch any of their following gigs due to scheduling constraints and distances, I certainly knew what they were up to. Now, they are getting ready to perform at this year’s Trendslaughter Fest in Bangalore, alongside Blood Division from Singapore and fellow Indians Dying Embrace, Witchgoat, Necrodeity and Solar Deity. In-depth Interview With Turisas Violinist Olli Vänskä

After a successful Paganfest America tour last year, Finnish ‘battle metal’ band Turisas is ready to do another North American trek this year. They’ll start with the epic 70000 Tons Of Metal Cruise from January 28th to February 1st, and following that they will do a run of dates as part of their ‘Guards Of Glory’ tour with Greek power metal band Firewind and California-based avant-garde metal band Stolen Babies as support acts. Turisas is also currently in the studio, gearing up to release their next album, the follow-up to the well-received third studio album ‘Stand Up And Fight’. On January 9th, I spoke to violinist Olli Vänskä to talk about the songwriting and recording process behind the new album, the upcoming tour, and more. Suffocation Bassist Derek Boyer Discusses New Album, Stage Moves & More

Long Island’s death metal flag bearers Suffocation are ready to release their seventh studio album ‘Pinnacle Of Bedlam’, on February 15th in Europe and February 19th in the US via Nuclear Blast Records. The album marks the return of drummer Dave Culross, who is featuring on a Suffocation album for the first time in almost 15 years. A couple of nights ago, I had a fairly entertaining chat with bassist Derek Boyer. We discussed the new album and line up change, of course, and besides, we talked about the band’s touring plans, Derek’s double duties with Suffocation and Decrepit Birth, the Long Island Music Hall Of Fame, his stage moves, and more. Voivod Drummer Talks About Making Of New Album ‘Target Earth’

Canadian heavy metal veterans Voivod have released their new album ‘Target Earth’ on Century Media Records. This is Voivod’s thirteenth studio album overall, and the first one to feature Daniel Mongrain on guitar, who is replacing the late Denis D’Amour. It is also the first since 1991’s Angel Rat with Jean-Yves ‘Blacky’ Thériault on bass. A couple of days ago, our man Avinash Mittur caught up with drummer Michel ‘Away’ Langevin, to discuss the making of the album, the influences he has brought upon for the writing process, touring plans, and various other things, in detail.
