Canadian heavy metal band Threat Signal recently put out their third full length-album, a self-titled release that reaches a new level of aggression, and proves to be the band’s heaviest record till date. Ever since the album came out on October 11th under the Nuclear Blast label, it has been getting a similar response from other members of the media. Almost everyone’s opinion is almost unanimous, and this really is the most crushing, intense set of songs we’ve ever heard from this band.
But even before this release, I was already very familiar with the band, having seen them on tours with Epica and Dark Tranquillity in 2010. Their live musicianship and stage presence was very impressive , and I was really looking forward to their next studio album. Sure enough, they have delivered the promise with this self-titled album.
To coincide with the release, vocalist Jon Howard did a round of phone interviews on October 14th, and I was one of his interviewers. It was great talking to him as we discussed the new album in detail, its music, line-up changes, production, and everything else. Besides, we also talked about topics like immigration issues, merchandise, and the dreaded Spotify. Listen to this 16-minute conversation below, and check out the band’s facebook page for up to date info. Trust me, you will not regret picking up their new album.
