Vreid Bassist Discusses Recent Tours, Lyrical Inspiration + More (Audio)

By Andrew Bansal

Even though Norway is famously known in the world of heavy music for its black metal scene, there are certain bands based in that country that do not follow the rule book set by the generations of bands before them. Vreid, led by bassist Jarle Kvåle, happens to be one such band. They started out in 2004 and have been releasing one solid album after another, the latest being ‘Welcome Farewell’, their sixth studio effort and one that sees Jarle’s creativity expand further. Last Sunday June 16th 2013, they visited the Joint in West Los Angeles to begin their current North American tour as main support act to Melechesh. Before the show, I sat down with Jarle to discuss the band’s recent travels, the latest album, lyrical inspirations, and more. Listen to the 9-minute chat below, and read my review of that show or visit the band online using the links at the bottom.
