When they performed at the Summer Slaughter show at Hollywood’s House Of Blues in 2010, technical death metal band Veil Of Maya managed to capture my attention with their live musicianship. They did complete justice to all of their songs in the short but intense 30-minute set, specially the material from their highly impressive latest album “Id”. After that show, I was eager to get another taste of their live performance , and I got it at the Whisky A Go-Go in November of that year, as they opened up for Darkest Hour and played a longer set.
This year, they have completed another successful touring run with After The Burial, and continue to work on new material, under the very able guidance of Periphery’s Misha Mansoor. The “Crush ‘Em All” tour featuring Veil of Maya and After The Burial made a stop at the Key Club in Hollywood on October 16th, and before the show I had a chance to talk to guitarist Marc Okubo about this next album, and what it’s like working with Misha. Listen to the short and sweet 6-minute interview below, and check out their facebook page for all the latest.
