June 14th 2015, The Roxy, West Hollywood CA: New Orleans’ finest extreme metal export Goatwhore embarked on a North American headline tour in June 2015 with support acts Ringworm, Black Breath and Theories, promising to bring to the masses the most crushing touring package of the year. Surrounding their 2014 Metal Blade Records full-length release ‘Constricting Rage Of The Merciless’, Goatwhore successfully completed some hi-profile tours like Metal Alliance and Summer Slaughter as a support act, but this time they’re delivering eagerly awaiting fans a full-on experience of the band’s on-stage monstrosity, with weapons old and new from their six-album arsenal. The tour visited Los Angeles for a gig at the Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood on Sunday June 14, and our writer Lisa Burke was in attendance to give us a firsthand account of how the event unfolded. June 9th 2015, Saban Theatre, Beverly Hills CA: In support of their latest studio effort ‘The Purple Album’, a recreation of David Coverdale’s Deep Purple years, hard rock icons Whitesnake have embarked on an extensive North American headline run. ‘The Purple Tour’ brought them to the Los Angeles area for a gig at the lovely Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills. May 21st 2015, The Whisky-A-Go-Go, West Hollywood CA: Having Aborted as your band name, expectations would surely ask you to be heavy. Complying in spades and then some, Belgium’s brutal death metal veterans Aborted have destroyed all senses with their style of uncompromising brutality for well over 20 years now. Taking from Carcass’ older lyrical style of gore and medical splatter, Aborted has turned into a household name for all death metal fans around the world, and with them bringing along a diverse lineup for their first headlining run in quite some time, including Dark Sermon, Archspire and Fit For An Autopsy, it would seem that the Whisky-A-Go-Go in Los Angeles had prepared itself for an incredibly brutal lineup. May 15-17 2015, Los Angeles CA: To commemorate the fifth anniversary of Ronnie James Dio’s passing, a remembrance event was organized through the entirety of the weekend of May 15th-17th 2015, and several high-profile musicians participated by appearing and performing in honor and celebration of the life of Ronnie James Dio. Day #1 was the celebrity bowling event at the Pinz Bowling Center in Studio City, Day #2 was the memorial service and all-star indoor concert at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, and Day #3 was the ‘Ride For Ronnie’ bike riders rally from the Harley Davidson of Glendale to the BBQ at Los Encino Park, where an outdoor concert also took place. Our photographer Carsten Steinhausen was in attendance on Days #2 and #3, to capture the action through some fantasic lens work. Enjoy it below. May 15th 2015, The Grove, Anaheim CA: Based on the strength of their Billboard-charting eleventh studio album ‘Haven’, symphonic metal giants Kamelot embarked on the first leg of a North American tour with power/shred veterans DragonForce, and brought the four-week run at the Grove of Anaheim on Friday May 15, presenting material old and new in front of their devout Southern California fans. Our photographer Karina Diane was in attendance to capture the show with some beautiful images, which you can view below.
