February 2nd 2016, The Whisky-A-Go-Go, West Hollywood CA: This week in metal I’ve spent three nights out of four at Whisky-A-Go-Go because they’ve been a temporary home to all the great acts of the week. Tuesday night February 2nd, 2016 I arrived a few bands in to see Nile headline the evening. I caught three of the openers Cranial Engorgement, Servile Conceptions, and Taipan. January 31st 2016, The Whisky-A-Go-Go, West Hollywood CA: Sunday night at Whisky A Go Go is usually filled with entertaining acts and remains kind of refreshing because it’s never packed to the max no matter who’s playing, usually allowing you to be the party instead of trying to squeeze your way into a party. This time it was a somewhat eclectic mix with headlining act Black Magic Beach Party and support acts The Aviators, Kings Of Jade, Pistol Beauty, and Danger Escape. The order of bands was interesting to say the least, and of course two of these acts did not fit together at all into this night which happened to be the opener and the headliner, go figure. January 29th 2016, Loaded Rock Bar, Hollywood CA: Last Friday night, the options of metal shows were plenty with Mursic playing Viper Room and Orgy playing the Whisky-A-Go-Go, however, I chose to attend a very well put together lineup served in the correct order by promoters Church Of The 8th Day at Loaded in Hollywood. This night brought us Ironaut as the headliner with support acts Monolith, The Rare Breed, and Electric Parlor. Sisters Ov The Blackmoon Dominate Thursday Night At Boardners

January 28th 2016, Boardners, Hollywood CA: Last Thursday, I went to Boardners in Hollywood for what turned out to be an all-female vocalist night in rock ‘n roll and metal. Boardners usually does themed nights or nights that carry a certain name such as Club Moscow, Bar Sinister, and Blue Monday, but after asking around I concluded that Thursday night at Boardners is simply Thursday night at Boardners. Nonetheless, it was clearly set up to be an interesting night, and overall enjoyable. RVLS was the headliner of this night followed by Sisters Ov The Blackmoon, We’re No Gentlemen, True Violet, and Earthsleep. Stephen Pearcy Rocks Seattle With Ratt Classics

By Andrew Bansal

January 29th 2016, Studio Seven, Seattle WA: Following his most recent split with Ratt, singer Stephen Pearcy resumed his solo career and has been performing live under his own name, playing a set almost exclusively comprising Ratt songs. He has done several hometown gigs in the LA/Hollywood area during this time, but in all honesty, I invariably found something better to do on each of those nights and hence never took the chance to check out his show. The only times I’d seen the Stephen Pearcy fronted Ratt was in the summer of 2009 at the Wiltern and at House Of Blues Anaheim, a tour on which Extreme was the support act. It took an idle week in Seattle with not much going on show-wise to finally venture to a Stephen Pearcy show, last Friday January 29th 2016 at Studio Seven in the perhaps fittingly sketchy and perilous SoDo neighborhood of Seattle.
