May 1st 2015, Black Castle, Los Angeles CA: Portuguese gothic/melodic death metal veterans Moonspell, Greek symphonic extreme metal titans Septicflesh and Swedish industrial/gothic quartet Deathstars embarked on the ‘Conquerers Of The World’ North American tour together in April 2015, and a week into the run, arrived in Los Angeles for a gig at the Black Castle, put together by promoters Church Of The 8th Day and The Elegy Ensemble and also featuring local support from Noctuary and Kaustik. Our photographer/writer Karina Diane was on site to provide us some captivating images in addition to a brief recap of the event. Check it out below.

Due to Septicflesh’ soundcheck issues prior to the show because of soundboard requirements by the band, Kaustik did not get to play their set, unfortunately. The venue reportedly had a 24-output soundboard and Septicfesh needed 26. Tour management and some show promoters did apologize to Kaustik and offered them other incentives for other show opportunities and possible radio station appearance.

As a result, doors opened at 9:30 and not at 8 PM as planned, with Orange County band Noctuary already playing as people walked in. They were going to cancel Noctuary as well as Kaustik but decided to let them play since this was the band’s first show in 10 years and there were people that came to see them. The band was good, although the lead vocals could have been stronger. The touring bands sounded and looked great on stage. Even Deathstars, on their first ever US tour, were impressing a lot of people even though they did not exactly come across as similar to the genre of music portrayed by Moonspell or Septicflesh.
