Review & photos by Brad Worsham
February 12th 2016, The Palladium, Hollywood CA: It was the last show of the North American tour featuring metal heavyweights Lamb Of God and Anthrax along with opening acts Deafheaven and Power Trip, and the Hollywood Palladium was completely sold out. Fans began arriving at the venue around noon to have the honor of being front row center, with the added benefit of being crushed for 5 hours straight with no possibility of being able to leave and return.
The long line of fans began funneling through security checkpoints and into the venue at 6:30. Some that decided to get an early jump on drinking had overdone it a little too much and were denied entrance by security. By 7:30 the line had diminished, the Palladium was completely packed and Power Trip took the stage. The high energy performance set the anxious crowd into motion, circle pits and crowd surfers took to the air.

Power Trip Set List:
01. Manifest Decimation
02. Heretic’s Fork
03. Suffer No Fool
04. Murderer’s Row
05. Conditioned to Death
06. Crossbreaker
07. The Hammer of Doubt

Deafheaven seemed to have skipped soundcheck, opting to do a short sound check before leaving the stage and re-emerging a few minutes later with a lethargic performance. The crowd was enjoying the show, although much more subdued. It wasn’t really “my thing”, I feel they are best described as a Metal Jam Band, complete with mood lighting.

Deafheaven Set List:
01. Brought to the Water
02. Luna
03. Come Back
04. Dream House

Metal veterans Anthrax took the stage next with energy similar to what they had in the 80s. The setlist was heavy on classics such as ‘Caught in a Mosh’, ‘Antisocial’, and ‘Indians’, and of course their newest single ‘Evil Twin’. The crowd returned the band’s energy in spades. It would have been nice for Anthrax to have a little more time, but 8 intense songs is impossible to complain about.

Anthrax Set List:
01. Impaled
02. Fight ‘Em ‘Til You Can’t
03. Caught in a Mosh
04. Got the Time
05. Antisocial
06. Evil Twin
07. In the End
08. Breathing Lightning
09. Indians

Lamb of God’s arrival on stage brought the venue to life. No one in attendance was standing still, the crowd moving in all directions, at times it seemed like complete chaos but looking closer it was more like a well oiled machine. Lamb of God was determined to leave it all on the stage, there was no more shows on this tour to save it for. Randy Blythe’s high flying antics did not disappoint.
Around midnight the show was over. Those that had been there for 12 hours were finally free, but if you asked any of them I’m sure they would have stayed another hour or two.

Lamb Of God Set List:
01. Desolation
02. 512
03. Walk with Me in Hell
04. Still Echoes
05. Ruin
06. The Subtle Arts of Murder and Persuasion
07. Overlord
08. The Faded Line
09. Now You’ve Got Something to Die For
10. Set to Fail
11. Blacken the Cursed Sun
12. Erase This
