Uniting for what promises to be one of the heaviest North American tours of the year, New Orleans sludgemasters Crowbar, Michigan blue-collar metal warriors Battlecross and Portland, Oregon stoner/doom tyrants Lord Dying will soon embark on the ‘Summer Of Doom’ five-week run, and will bring three of these shows to Southern California. Los Angeles-based instrumental progressive metal/fusion trio Mammoth are products of Musicians Institute and have been in existence for more than a decade, independently releasing three EPs and playing gigs regularly during this period. They caught Metal Assault’s attention when they were won a ‘battle of the bands’ to open for Mr. Big at the Saban Theatre in February 2015, and succeeded in leaving an extremely strong first impression with their performance. San Francisco garage/psychedelic heavy rock trio Fuzz released their self-titled debut album in 2013, and following a successful gig at the Troubadour in 2014, are returning to Los Angeles for a headline show at the El Rey Theatre on Friday April 24th. Swedish heavy metal giants Meshuggah are making a brief visit to the United States to play Kirk Von Hammett’s Fear FestEvil in San Jose, California this month, and following their appearance at that event they will also do two special Southern California shows. They will perform at the House Of Blues Anaheim in Downtown Disney on Monday April 13 for what promises to be a typically ear-crushing, mind-blowing onslaught of extreme heaviness. Featuring in its ranks Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx and Guns ‘N Roses guitarist DJ Ashba along with vocalist/drummer/keyboardist James Michael, Los Angeles-based hard rock group Sixx: A.M. released their third studio album ‘Modern Vintage’ via Eleven Seven Music in October 2014. To present its material as well as older tunes, Sixx: A.M. will be embarking on their first ever headline tour in early April, and will perform at Club Nokia in downtown LA on Saturday April 11, as part of this tour. Veterans of the American modern metal movement, Fort Lauderdale FL’s Nonpoint released their eighth studio album ‘The Return’ via Razor & Tie / Metal Blade in the summer of 2014, have been constantly on tour as always, and are about to embark on a US headline tour with support from Anchorage, Alaska’s best-known metal export 36 Crazyfists, and Providence RI based band Scare Don’t Fear.
