Guitar shredder extraordinaire Paul Gilbert is very much a veteran in the hard rock/speed metal realm through his exploits in various bands for more than three decades, most notably Racer X and Mr. Big, but also on the G3 tours, and in collaboration with other artists. But in addition, Gilbert also kept releasing solo albums on a consistent basis. His latest, ‘I Can Destroy’, was released in 2015, and he is soon embarking on a short run of US headline dates in support of the album. Gilbert will bring his gamut of guitar mastery and facial expressions to San Diego, for a gig at Brick By Brick on Friday January 20th 2017, with local/regional support acts Points North and RDG. KXM feat. Dug Pinnick, George Lynch & Ray Luzier: ‘Scatterbrain’ Video Released

Hard rock/heavy metal supergroup KXM, featuring the trio of vocalist/bassist Dug Pinnick of King’s X, guitarist George Lynch (Dokken & Lynch Mob), and drummer Ray Luzier of Korn, will be releasing their sophomore album ‘Scatterbrain’ on March 17th 2017 via Rat Pak Records. ‘Scatterbrain’ features 13 brand new tracks and was recorded at the Steakhouse studio in North Hollywood California. The album was produced by Chris “The Wizard” Collier (Flotsam & Jetsam/Prong/Last In Line) who also produced the band’s 2014 debut.The music video for the title track can be viewed below. Florida death metal legends Obituary have announced their tenth full-length studio album. The self-titled effort will be released on Relapse Records on March 17th 2017. Ticket Giveaway: LA Guns @ Observatory OC

LA glam metal veterans LA Guns will soon embark on their reunion tour, featuring a lineup with singer Phil Lewis and guitarist Tracii Guns finally playing together again. There have been different versions of the band playing under the same name simultaneously in the recent past, but this should put an end to any confusion about the identity of the real LA Guns band. The first US show of their reunion tour is close to home, at the Observatory Orange County in Santa Ana, California on Friday January 20th 2017, and for glam metal fans, there is where the party will be during a busy NAMM weekend. Morbid Angel Announce US Tour with Suffocation, Revocation & Withered

Death metal legends Morbid Angel have announced their first tour of the United States for 2017. The tour, featuring Suffocation, Revocation and Withered as support acts, will commence on May 23rd in Orlando, Florida at the Beachum and continue around the country until the last show on June 27th, in New Orleans at the House Of Blues. In other news, the band announced the addition of drummer Scott Fuller (ex Abysmal Dawn, Annihilated and Errorgeist) into their lineup, as he joins guitarist and founding member Trey Azagthoth, returning vocalist Steve Tucker, and second guitarist Dan Vadim Von. The band is also working new material in famed producer Erik Rutan’s Mana Studios, for the next album to be released via UDR Music later in 2017.
