Austin, Texas based classic heavy metal quintet Scorpion Child have signed to Nuclear Blast Records. This May, Nuclear Blast will release the band’s self-titled full-length debut. Produced and arranged by Chris “Frenchie” Smith (THE ANSWER, AND YOU WILL KNOW US BY THE TRAIL OF DEAD…), the album uses analog recording technology to organically capture a hybrid of nine, hook-filled chapters of heavy psych rock. Rahul Chacko, also known as Scribble Bandit, is the guitarist of Bangalore-based stoner doom metal band Bevar Sea and also designs album covers and t-shirts. He has revealed his latest venture, a custom Black Sabbath t-shirt which will be printed on a pre-order basis only. He is now accepting pre-orders on his facebook page (linked above), and based on the number of pre-orders, the shirt will go into print mid-February with shipping to follow soon after. The price is Rs. 500 (8 Euros/10 dollars) plus Rs. 50 for domestic shipping and Rs. 150 for international shipping. Melodic Metallers FIREWIND have announced Kelly Sundown Carpenter (Adagio, Beyond Twilight, etc., pictured above) as new vocalist for their upcoming North American touring activities, after longterm vocalist Apollo Papathanasio parted ways with the band. Even though Papathanasio has been temporarily replaced for some touring activities in the past, he has appeared on all FIREWIND releases since 2006’s “Allegiance” album and the band’s upcoming live-album will feature recordings from his recent final shows with the group.
