The 2016 edition of the annual Summer Slaughter North American extreme metal touring festival is certainly pulling no punches and leaving no stone unturned in making it the most powerful lineup it’s ever had to offer. Headlined by Cannibal Corpse, the lineup also features heavyweights Nile, After The Burial, Suffocation, Carnifex, Revocation, Krisiun, Slaughter To Prevail, Ingested and Enterprise Earth. Summer Slaughter will be starting out in the home of American death metal i.e. Florida and making its way to Southern California for two gigs, the first of which is slated to take place at the Observatory in Santa Ana on Thursday August 11th. The 22nd annual Vans Warped Tour is currently doing the rounds through North America and bringing a plethora of summertime live music. This year’s lineup includes Every Time I Die, Veil Of Maya, Volumes, Whitechapel and many others, and as part of the tour, will visit Southern California for a takeover of the Pomona Fairplex on Sunday August 7th. After several years of obscurity, British extreme metal legends Carcass made a triumphant comeback with the 2013 release of their sixth full-length studio album ‘Surgical Steel’, their first album in 17 long years, and have been going strong ever since. Now, they are gearing up for a massive North American headline run, aptly titled ‘One Foot In The Grave’ tour, also featuring New Orleans sludgelords Crowbar, Creepsylvania shock rock mongers Ghoul, and Ventura, California NWOBHM flag-bearers Night Demon as support acts. The tour is visiting Southern California for two shows, the second of which is slated to take place at the Roxy Theatre in West Hollywood on Sunday July 24th.
