Skull Fist, Elm Street & Night Demon: Young Metal Attack Set To Launch Over America

By Andrew Bansal

skullfist_tourForming an enticing union that looks poised to satiate the desires of old-school metalheads in every town it visits, three promising young bands from three different countries, Skull Fist from Canada, Elm Street from Australia and Night Demon from the US of A have joined forces to set America alight through their run of shows this coming January. For genuine supporters of the true and pure style of heavy metal, this is a chance to start the year of 2015 right by attending a show on this tour, as each of these three excellent bands have a point to prove and bring something of their own to the table.

skullfistHailing from Toronto, Ontario, Skull Fist have been in existence since 2006, spreading their brand of speed/thrash metal laden with hooks, melodies and harmonies, and simple, instantly enjoyable lyrics to go with the catchy music. They released their second full-length album ‘Chasing The Dream’ in 2014 via NoiseArt Records, and will present tunes off it in addition of selections from their stellar 2011 debut LP ‘Head Öf The Pack’. For fans in America this has been a long-awaited tour as Skull Fist hasn’t traveled south of the border much in recent times, and for those that are new or completely unfamiliar, this is as good a time as any to discover the high-octane metal phenomenon that is Skull Fist.

Providing main support on the tour will be Melbourne, Australia thrash quartet Elm Street, showcasing material from their 2011 debut full-length ‘Barbed Wire Metal’, another band with a high-energy live show and they’ll certainly attempt to match Skull Fist pound for pound when it comes to delivering unabated fast-paced party metal. For attendees at this show, Elm Street should serve as the ideal appetizer to Skull Fist.

And third on the bill but by no means the least, Ventura, California’s finest exports Night Demon will look to build on the success of their recently concluded extensive and comprehensive 44-show US tour in support of the legendary Raven, a rare feat in itself for an old-school metal band in this day and age. On the strength of a mere 4-song self-titled EP alone, they managed to tour across America and Europe and get signed to well-established record labels Century Media and SPV/Steamhammer for those respective regions, and now with the impending release of their debut full-length album ‘Curse Of The Damned’, Night Demon have all but conquered the heavy metal world.

nightdemon_promoDespite being third behind Skull Fist and Elm Street, with a new set list and a new live show, Night Demon will undoubtedly (re) capture the imagination of fans and first-timers on this next tour. Worth nothing for Night Demon’s Southern California fans is the fact that the January 23 Los Angeles and January 24 Fullerton dates of the tour are Night Demon’s album release shows and thus will be headlined by them. But at all the other eighteen shows, playing earlier in the evening as compared to their average set times on the Raven tour, they will lay down the gauntlet to their tour mates in Elm Street and Skull Fist, and will raise the bar for the show as a whole.

America, get ready for a righteous heavy metal party this January.
