Five years after the release of the avant-garde metal piece\u00a0Adj\u00f8 Silo<\/em>, Norway’s\u00a0FORMLOFF\u00a0<\/strong>return\u00a0with a new dark black metal piece.\u00a0Titled\u00a0Spyhorelandet,<\/em>\u00a0the record is\u00a0<\/em>set for release\u00a0via\u00a0Eisenwald in January 2012. Finding progression in regression,\u00a0FORMLOFF<\/strong>\u00a0have crafted an album closer to the sound of their first demo,\u00a0Overstyring.\u00a0<\/em>Darker and more atmospheric than ever before, the\u00a0FORMLOFF<\/strong>\u00a0duo — Bernt Karsten Sannerud and\u00a0Marius Sj\u00f8li\u00a0—\u00a0also recruited several session musicians to compete the recording lineup, including two bass players, a drummer and a saxophonist.<\/p>\n

Where most black metal revels in stories of fictional deities, benign and malignant,\u00a0Spyhorelandet\u00a0<\/em>wallows in everyday themes. Much like the cover art (to be revealed soon), the music contained\u00a0within\u00a0bears forth\u00a0the naked truth. When you peel back the skin, no matter how beautiful, what is left is the ugly personal histories each of us carries. Throughout\u00a0Spyhorelandet<\/em>, naked inhabitants of our world are quoted directly. For many of whom, defeat is their best and sometimes only asset.<\/p>\n
