The cover artwork for MUNICIPAL WASTE\u2019s fifth studio album \u2013 due out in North America on April 10th<\/sup>\u00a0and in Europe on April 13th<\/sup>\u00a0– was created by Justin Osbourn of Slasher Design.<\/p>\n

Osbourn answers a few questions about the artistic process for his \u201cWaste In Space\u201d masterpiece:<\/p>\n

Did you hear any new music before you created this bad boy?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nope, I wasn\u2019t given any of the new song demos beforehand.\u00a0 Ryan [Waste, guitarist] kinda gave me an overall theme and certain elements that they wanted to see in the artwork.\u00a0 Being a fan of the band, I just took that and added what I thought would enhance it further.<\/p>\n

Why does the guy being eaten resemble Captain James Tiberius Kirk?<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s kinda weird that you say that… I happen to be quite the fan of the original Star Trek series.\u00a0 It would have totally made sense for that to be Captain Kirk being devoured, but unfortunately, that was never my intent.\u00a0 Perhaps it was subconsciously, though?\u00a0 How \u2018bout we just tell everyone it is.<\/p>\n

Anything hidden in the artwork (a la Derek Riggs\/Iron Maiden covers) that fans should keep an eye out for?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sorta. The number of cheap beer cans\/bottles laying around on the cover are just about the right number I would drink on a night I would call a Pretty Damn Good Night.\u00a0 Oh, and there\u2019s an empty half pint of Viaka Vodka in there as well; it\u2019s just that it\u2019s laying behind The Waste-oids devouring Captain Kirk.\u00a0 Ha ha.<\/p>\n

In your opinion, what brand of beer gives the best \u201cKssshhhhkt!\u201d sound when you open it?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I like to keep it on the classy side, so the answer is simple. The champagne of beers… Miller High Life.<\/p>\n
