November 2nd 2015, The Viper Room, West Hollywood CA: <\/strong>Los Angeles-based rock\/metal quintet Stitched Up Heart<\/a><\/strong> signed a worldwide deal with Another Century for a new album slated for release in Spring 2016, and are about to embark on an extensive US tour in support of label mates Like A Storm. Stitched Up Heart have been around for at least five years, and worked hard on a D.I.Y. level to get to where they are today. Before hitting the road for this tour, they played a free showcase event at the Viper Room last Monday November 2nd. The last time I saw them was at the Key Club in 2011, and not only did this Viper Room gig left me pleasantly surprised, but in no doubt that the band has come a long way since then, in every sense of the term.<\/p>\n

Starting at 8:40, Stitched Up Heart played a 30-minute set of groove-laden hard rock with a dark, goth-like vibe, led excellently by Mixi on vocals. Her singing has progressed admirably, and even more so has her stage presence (including her hair color), interaction, and command of the audience. Even though her band mates did a fine job at their respective instruments, all eyes and ears were on her, and she carried the show to hold the audience captive for the entirety of the set, which in itself is not a common occurrence, given the miniscule attention spans of the modern-day human.<\/p>\n

Stylistically, Stitched Up Heart’s music is nothing different from or newer than anything you’ve already heard before and it’s definitely geared towards a mainstream audience, but it is well-presented with a lot of energy from all five members and is far more compelling, visually and sonically, than most of the ‘Revolver hottest chicks’ bands. The prominence of the singing voice in their tunes shows yet again that there is always a place for a good singer even in the heaviest forms of music.<\/p>\n

Those that have been in the Los Angeles music community for more than five years have known Stitched Up Heart since the band’s early days, and it is great to see them make the transition from a D.I.Y. local band to a signed, nationally touring band. If you’re an admirer of genuine singing talent, catch Stitched Up Heart on tour and keep your eyes and ears peeled for their new album in 2016.<\/p>\n
