In 2006, Isolation in Infamy shattered the L.A. metal scene with a combination of explosive death metal and technical precision. Even with line-up changes they remained a strong force and continued marking their territory in this genre. With the release of the self-titled EP in 2010, Isolation in Infamy continues to annihilate with their methodical and powerful force.

"Theory in Flight" starts the EP out as vocalist Andy Nelson lets his vocals go with pure savagery. Rhythmic guitar hooks draw you in and punishes with insane double-pedal drumming. The compelling "Psychological Bombardment" only begins to show the capabilities of Isolation in Infamy. Shredding riffs and prominent bass chug along in a traditional death metal manner before it takes off at full speed and cuts to an intricate guitar solo with soft drums in the back, finally releasing you back into that pit of brutality.

The power on "Unison of Beasts" is phenomenal and Shadi Absi shows off his talent with a ripping guitar solo as Nelson continue to just destroy with his vocals. "Solitary Insanity" is one of my favorites as it seeps through with a sense of evil. "Inanimate Existence" closes the EP with headbanging speed and an insane amount of variety. There's so much going on this track it's almost overwhelming. Dual guitars, double pedal drumming, blistering solo and just an immense amount of speed.

I am thoroughly impressed with Isolation in Infamy, they've breathed new life into a genre that was on the verge of becoming somewhat stale thanks to the newer and more polished bands out there that are more interested at shopping at Hot Topic than playing their instruments (names won't be mentioned but you know who you are). I'm definitely keeping my eyes and ears out for these guys in the future to see what else they bring to the table.
