Dream Theater: In-depth Interview With John Petrucci (Video)

By Aniruddh "Andrew" Bansal, September 25th 2011, Nokia Theatre, Los Angeles CA: Progressive metal masters Dream Theater started a glorious new chapter in their career with the release of their 11th studio album 'A Dramatic Turn Of Events', which came out on September 13th in North America on the Roadrunner label. This is their first album without longtime drummer and founding member Mike Portnoy, and despite the pre-release apprehension from the fans, they have quashed all doubts and fears by coming up with an album that's fantastic to say the least.

They are now promoting this album by hitting the road for the "Dramatic Tour Of Events", starting off at the Warfield in San Francisco on the 24th and last night, they landed at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, much to the delight of this capacity crowd.

A few hours before they hit the stage, I had the immense pleasure of sitting down with guitarist John Petrucci for a detailed one-on-one interview. He discusses the tour, the vinyl edition of the new album, songwriting, production, gear, and various other things.
