Los Angeles CA acid doom band and Metal Assault Management client OLD BLOOD has some major news.
The group has amicably parted ways with their original vocalist Feathers, who features on their 2016 self-titled debut full-length and the 2018 single, “Enjoy. The Devil”. Feathers has departed Old Blood to pursue other interests, and played her final show with the band last Friday May 10 at Petie’s Place in Tarzana.
But the band is not going away or slowing down one bit, and several weeks prior to Feathers’ departure, Old Blood had already begun working hard behind the scenes, auditioning vocalists, and subsequently rehearsing regularly with the one chosen as the new vocalist. Enter, Lynx.
Old Blood is confirmed for their first show with Lynx at the helm, Saturday June 15 at Callahan’s Irish Pub in Azusa CA, a free show at that. In addition, the band will also support AZ/LA doom/post-rock group With Our Arms To The Sun, Saturday June 22 at Old Towne Pub in Pasadena CA (also featuring local acts Sick Mystic and Aparant).
Lynx has come in and already nailed all of the existing material whilst giving it her own flavor. With her, the band is also working on new music. The next single, “Bloody Feathers”, will be Lynx’ recording debut with Old Blood, and Metal Assault Records is excited to announce that this song will feature on Vol. 1 of the Metal Assault Mixtape, releasing on cassette tape and digital download on August 9. Artwork for “Bloody Feathers”, as well as the song itself, will be revealed in a few weeks.
Other bands already confirmed and announced for the mixtape are:
Hrom (traditional/power metal, Canada)
Tyranis (old-school heavy metal, Orange CA)
Tzimani (hard rock / NWOTHM, San Diego CA)
Zinngeschrei (instrumental prog rock, Los Angeles CA)
A few more bands are still to be announced in the upcoming weeks. Pre-orders are now available here (shipping to US and Canada only). Every cassette tape purchase will come with a free digital download of the entire compilation.
Stay tuned for lots more from the Old Blood and Metal Assault camps!
