Los Angeles CA instrumental doom / post-rock group GOLIATHAN has unveiled the second track, “Vaalbara” off of their upcoming new album, Albion, out November 16 via Metal Assault Records. Blank TV has premiered a behind-the-scenes video documenting the recording of “Vaalbara”. Watch it here:
According to the band, “Albion tells an ancient story, and ‘Vaalbara’ is where it begins. An aberration rises up from the ground, splitting the Archean supercontinent in two, before lurching forward on its unrelenting journey to Albion.
‘Vaalbara’ originated from a series of demos and jam sessions dating back to early 2017. The epic, driving piece came to life on a Saturday morning, in a strange black building in Culver City, California.”
Previously, the title track was premiered by CVLT Nation, who praised the album as “an exciting blend of doom, stoner rock, and post-rock elements, masterfully put into a musical story telling form”.
The album is available for pre-order on the Metal Assault Records web store, and the band is scheduled for three regional album release shows in LA, Long Beach and Fullerton(dates below), coinciding with and surrounding the release date. In these shows, the band will be playing 60-minute sets and each show will feature two hand-picked support acts. Entry to any of these shows is free with pre-order purchase of the respective Albion CD+ticket or vinyl+ticket bundle via the web store.
Sean Beavan (NIN, Marilyn Manson, Slayer) mixed Albion: “Recorded live and full of doom ferocity… [Goliathan] bring their personalities together to create synergy and to channel aggression into art.”
